Shipping
Can I opt for local pick up?
It depends! We’re a bicoastal biz — our ceramics are hand crafted in Portland, OR, and everything else is made in Brooklyn, NY. We often have a bit of stock in both locations, so contact us at astrothestudio@gmail.com to inquire if we have what you’re looking for in your city! If so, we will send you a promo code for free shipping and coordinate pickup over email.
Why is your shipping so expensive?
Short answer: Ceramics are delicate!
In order for our products to arrive in one piece, we take extra care to wrap them tight so they are safe and sound no matter how far they are going! We ship via UPS Ground in order to bring the prices down as much as possible.
Any non-ceramic items (unless fulfilled by a third party) ships for free!
What if my order arrives broken?
We work hard to ensure your order arrives in one piece, but accidents happen! If your order arrives broken, please send us an email within 48 hours of delivery with photos of your item, and we will either fix it or remake it.
We cannot replace anything that is broken outside of shipping.
Do you ship internationally?
Not at the moment, but if you have a specific request, please email me and we can work something out!
Product questions
How are your ceramics made?
Our porcelain ceramics are hand made through an intensive process of slip casting. The greenware casted forms are bisque fired to cone 06, sanded, and washed. Next, glaze is applied to specific areas of the forms for functionality and the pieces are then glaze fired to cone 10. Lastly, the vitrified forms are sanded smooth.
What else can I use your cookie jars for?
Literally anything! Here are some of our favorite uses:
- Coffee beans (or K-cups!)
- Tea (bags or loose leaf)
- Crackers, nuts, dried fruit
- Dry baking ingredients (flour, sugar, etc.)
- Dog treats
- Plants, flowers or dried flowers
- Cotton balls
- Anything else you want to hide (dr*gs, candy stash, etc.)
Are your ceramics dishwasher and/or microwave-safe?
Technically, yes. But we don’t recommend it. Please handwash to ensure longevity.

Do you have a return policy?
All sales are final, baby!
Do you ever have sales?
Yes! We often have a few sales a year and ‘seconds’ sales of items at special discounts. Sign up for our newsletter below to be the first to find out about them!
What's the difference between 'Preorder' and 'Ready to ship' items in your online shop?
All items are ready to ship unless otherwise noted. “Ready to ship” items are items we have currently in stock. We can ship them out within 3-5 days of your order.
“Preorder” items are items that we make when you place an order. We don’t have them on the shelf waiting to go out. So they naturally will take a bit longer to reach you. Due to high demand, we are currently at a 5-8 week lead time for our pre order items. If you are ordering on a tight timeline, please keep this in mind and allow sufficient time between ordering and your project or design needs.
All items shipped within the U.S. take 5-7 business days to get to you once shipped.
